The municipality is located in the southwestern part of Ternopil region. It has a favourable transport and geographical location, as it is located on the transport route connecting Ivano-Frankivsk, Ternopil, Kamianets-Podilskyi, Chernivtsi. The centre of the municipality - the city of Buchach is located 30 km from the district centre of Chortkiv and 70 km from the regional centre of Ternopil. Buchach lies on the terrace of the deep canyon of the Strypa River, on the territory of Opillya - the western part of the Podilsky Upland. The city centre is located in the canyon-like valley of the Strypa River. The city is surrounded by hills-mountains: Zamkovaya, Torgovytsia (Torgovytsia), Fedir. The Strypa River divides Buchach into two parts: the larger one on the right bank, the smaller one on the left. Important transport arteries pass through the territory of the municipality - the railway line Ternopil - Chortkiv - Buchach and the national highway in Ukraine, Ivano-Frankivsk - Buchach - Ternopil. The total area of the land fund of the Buchach municipality is 524.2 km², of which 75.10 percent is agricultural land. 81% of agricultural land is under arable land. The presence of land resources in a complex with their rational use gives the municipality agricultural development potential.
