Additional peculiarities of the municipality:
Lutsk is one of the oldest cities in Ukraine. Its history spans around 1,000 years. The first mention of Lutsk in the chronicles dates back to 1085, a year which the people of Lutsk regard as their city’s birthday. Lutsk municipality is located in north-western Ukraine, in the south-eastern part of Volyn region. The city is the regional administrative centre of Volyn region and an important industrial and economic hub in the western region of Ukraine. Inter-state motorways linking Ukraine with Poland run through the city. The nearest operational airports are located in Rivne, Lviv and Kyiv (65 km, 150 km and 320 km from Lutsk respectively).
The main activities of legal entities are: wholesale and retail trade; repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles; administrative and support service activities; manufacturing; real estate activities; transport, warehousing, postal and courier services; professional, scientific and technical activities; and construction. The city has a well-developed network of retail outlets, restaurants and service providers. Within the localities of Lutsk municipality, there are over 95 retail and wholesale outlets and 22 restaurants. The car market is one of the largest in Ukraine. The shared entrepreneurial infrastructure in the municipality comprises nine co-working spaces and public spaces open to the public, the Volwest and "Centre for Medical Innovation" technology parks, and the "Dіia.Business.Lutsk" Centre for Entrepreneurship Development. Among the city’s greatest tourist "gems" are the Lutsk Castle, the house of the sculptor Mykola Holovan, the Lutheran Church, the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul, the Great Synagogue, and the Korsaks’ Museum of Modern Ukrainian Art – Ukraine’s largest museum of modern national art.
