The local economy is driven by a highly productive agricultural sector, featuring over 60 diverse farms that specialise in grain, dairy, and high-value crops like berries, mushrooms, and asparagus, alongside a growing service industry and brick manufacturing.
The local administration is highly proactive, operating under a structured Sustainable Development Strategy with an active Action Plan running through 2027. The council's strategic priorities are focused on leveraging its cross-border position to build a competitive, investor-friendly economy while upgrading public infrastructure.
