Additional peculiarities of the municipality:

Yaremche municipality is located in the heart of the Ukrainian Carpathians, within the Gorgany mountain range and the historic Hutsul region. The administrative centre, Yaremche, was founded in 1787, while Mykulychyn, one of the oldest settlements in the municipality, dates back to 1412.

The municipality is one of Ukraine’s leading mountain tourism destinations and serves as the administrative centre of the Carpathian National Nature Park – the first and one of the largest national parks in Ukraine, covering more than 50,000 hectares of protected natural landscapes and biodiversity. The area includes mountain peaks ranging from 400 to 1,542 metres, pristine forests, natural mineral springs, waterfalls, and access to the Chornohora mountain range, home to Ukraine’s highest peaks.

Tourism and hospitality are the key drivers of the local economy. The municipality offers more than 400 accommodation facilities, ranging from wellness hotels and SPA resorts to eco-lodges, guest houses, and campgrounds. Before the full-scale invasion, the municipality welcomed over 800,000 visitors annually, making it one of the most visited destinations in Western Ukraine. The municipality continues to play an important role as a safe destination for domestic tourism, business relocation, and temporary shelter for internally displaced people.

Yaremche municipality offers significant opportunities for investment and international cooperation in sustainable tourism, environmental protection, green infrastructure, climate resilience, renewable energy, wastewater management, eco-mobility, and digital transformation. The municipality actively develops international partnerships and seeks cooperation with donors, investors, and cities committed to sustainable development and the recovery of Ukraine.

The municipality combines exceptional natural resources, strong tourism potential, rich Hutsul cultural heritage, and a strategic location in one of the most attractive regions of the Ukrainian Carpathians.
