Additional peculiarities of the municipality:
Chernivtsi municipality, located in western Ukraine just 40 km from the Romanian border, covers 181.6 km2 and has a population of 269,000. Since the full-scale war began, the municipality has showcased immense social resilience by integrating roughly 40,000 internally displaced persons (IDPs). The local economy is powered by a diverse service sector, trade, logistics, a thriving IT cluster, education, and healthcare, with over 25,000 registered businesses. Notably, Chernivtsi has transformed into a critical sanctuary and growth hub for relocated enterprises from war-affected regions, rapidly expanding its business infrastructure and digital services. Offering a strategic cross-border gateway to the European Union, a highly skilled talent pool, and strong institutional capacity, the municipality is an ideal partner for international donor projects and foreign direct investment.
