Additional peculiarities of the municipality:
The city has a favourable geographical location. Within a radius of 280 km from the city are the borders of four countries - Poland, Slovakia, Hungary and Romania, which gives easy access to Central and Eastern Europe by rail and road. At a distance (35 km) are the international airports of Ivano-Frankivsk and 120 km from the airport "Lviv".
Kalush owes its development to its ancestors, who started salt production, today it is one of the largest industrial centers in Western Ukraine.
The subsoil of Kalush is rich in potash ore, gas, peat, clay, loam, gypsum, sand and Kalush-Golyn deposit of potassium-magnesium salts (498 million tons), which is a large raw material base for new investment projects in particular - production of potash fertilisers, magnesium and chemical products. Therefore, the implementation of an investment project for the processing of potassium salts and the production of finished products is extremely attractive to potential investors. In addition, in the industrial zone of Kalush there are more than 150 hectares of vacant land for industrial purposes and the recently established industrial park "Kalush industrial HUB", an area of 18.7 hectares with the necessary engineering and technical infrastructure. There is a customs post, sewage treatment plants, railway freight station.
The industrial complex of the city is represented by enterprises for the production of chemicals and chemical products, food products, textile and clothing production, manufacture of wood products, production of paper and paper products, rubber and plastic products, other non-metallic mineral products, pharmaceuticals and materials, metallurgical production and production of finished metal products, mechanical engineering furniture, electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply.
The city's small business is mainly focused on trade, catering and services.
There are 21 institutions of general secondary education in the municipality, in which 8,500 students studied. The network of classes with inclusive education was expanded. The implementation of the cultural policy was ensured by 26 institutions, 20 libraries that are part of the structure of the Centralised Library System of the Kalush City Council. There are 17 sports NGOs, 1 sports school, and 6 clubs of physical culture and sports, 4 - treatment and prevention facilities. Kalush has significant potential of historical, cultural and natural sites for the development of various types of tourism.
The municipality is interested in further economic development, establishing new business ties, cooperation with chambers of commerce and industry, business unions, launching new investment projects with the sale of products both in Ukraine and abroad.
